For those of you who have never heard of [F-Droid](https://f-droid.org/), it's an app repository(like Google's Play Store) but it's free and open source, and hosts only free and open source apps. Here is a list of apps on F-Droid I personally recommend: [**NewPipe**](https://f-droid.org/packages/org.schabi.newpipe/)- A lightweight YouTube frontend that's supposed to be used without the proprietary YouTube-API or any of Google's (proprietary) play-services. Watch YouTube videos without giving views or your data to Google. Features include playing videos in the background(instead of paying YouTube to use this feature, now you can use NewPipe and get this feature for free), 1080p/2k/4k quality support, livestream support, subtitles, dark theme, and more. *Sidenote*: There is also [SkyTube](https://f-droid.org/packages/free.rm.skytube.oss/). [**AnySoftKeyboard**](https://f-droid.org/packages/com.menny.android.anysoftkeyboard/)- Alternative on-screen keyboard that's faster and less glitchy than the default Android keyboard. [**Blokada**](https://f-droid.org/packages/org.blokada.alarm/)- An effective adblocker that is battery efficient, fast, and simple to use. Best of all, it doesn't require rooting your phone. [**Yalp Store**](https://f-droid.org/packages/com.github.yeriomin.yalpstore/)- Yalp Store lets you download apps directly from Google Play Store as apk files without having to sign in to Google Play using your personal info. It can search for updates of installed apps and lets you search for other apps. [**Clover**](https://f-droid.org/packages/org.floens.chan/)- A 4chan browser. Has support for other imageboards. [**Poland can into Space**](https://f-droid.org/packages/pl.sanszo.pcis/)- A fun and simple game where the player takes control of Polandball and helps him to reach high altitude and gives him opportunity to GET INTO SPACE! [**Simple Gallery**](https://f-droid.org/packages/com.simplemobiletools.gallery/)- A simple tool usable for viewing photos and videos. Contains no ads or unnecessary permissions. It is fully open source, provides customizable colors. Has a neat video player. [**Silence**](https://f-droid.org/packages/org.smssecure.smssecure/)- An SMS app that allows you to protect your privacy while communicating with friends. SMS messages are encrypted. [**Amaze**](https://f-droid.org/packages/com.amaze.filemanager/)- Light and smooth file manager. Has multiple themes. [**OsmAnd**](https://f-droid.org/packages/net.osmand.plus/)- A map and navigation app with access to the free, worldwide, and high-quality OpenStreetMap(OSM) data. [**Your local weather**](https://f-droid.org/en/packages/org.thosp.yourlocalweather)- Weather app that displays current weather and location wherever you are. [**NWS Weather Alerts Widget**](https://f-droid.org/packages/net.justdave.nwsweatheralertswidget/)- Android home screen widget that displays current weather alerts from the U.S. National Weather Service. [**Red Moon**](https://f-droid.org/packages/com.jmstudios.redmoon/)- A screen filter for night time phone use. When the lowest brightness setting of your phone won't do the trick, Red Moon makes your screen even darker. [**Video Transcoder**](https://f-droid.org/packages/protect.videoeditor/)- An app which uses the open source program FFmpeg to transcode video files from one format to another. By selecting the video to process, details for the video are provided and the desired settings can be configured. [**Tutanota**](https://f-droid.org/packages/de.tutao.tutanota/)- The official open source Tutanota app that enables you to send end-to-end encrypted emails to anybody with a tip of your finger.
