Vaccine doesn't even prevent you from getting the virus and spreading it, just reduces symptoms.

The only people taking the vaccine should be those who are in the high risk categories like the morbidly obese, the elderly and those with immune or respiratory deficiencies. They want healthy people taking it too only because the other groups would give good data on how it effects everyone.

This comes down to rate of spread/infection (R0) if flu has an R0 lower than SARS2 it could disappear while SARS2 hasn't.

The efforts to stop covid spread would all work on flu and because they have been applied almost universally in high traffic human spaces flu can just vanish when the R value drops below a rate of 1

Flu didn't cause a spontaneous global casualty event with mortality in the 18% range at the begining of last year, SARS had an 18% mortality rate for its first 9k infections and so did SARS2 the difference is SARS2 stuck around and we found out how to treat it better.
