National and Civic Orchestras have historically been true meritocracies, holding blind (performer behind a screen) auditions. If you had the chops, you got the gig, regardless of the circumstances of your birth. A few years ago, a handful of darkies, many of whom had benefitted from fostered tutelage and scholarships to premier conservatories, began to get uppity and cry raaaccccysssm an' shit because they couldn't pass muster. Too many orchestras, conservatories and music academies have bent the knee and kowtowed to the whims and impetuous demands of these jigs. This has resulted in the attempted, and increasingly successful, evisceration of the foundational canon and repertoire of our people's music and deserving players losing earned orchestral seats.
