Well that sucks. I can relate to the busy thing somehow I thought unemployment would come with more down time. My wife tells me I’m the worst unemployed person ever. I suppose I’m getting a sense of what it’s like to be in your shoes. Being retired and bad at it and all. I’m sure you’ll find some time for the blueberry harvest, if it’s important to us we all find time for it.
The problem is that it takes large blocks of time and I have a field boss that handles it. I just usually go work like any old regular field worker, albeit a little slower. I'll find some hours, but not nearly enough. It's a 1.5 to 2 hour drive from here.
wow thats a decent drive.
I'm outside Rangeley and the fields are in Vienna. They're then on the top of a mountain (Vienna Mountain Road, if you're interested) and that's a drive in itself - as the roads aren't maintained by anyone but the folks that live there and what I invest in getting them graveled and graded in the rougher parts.
It's only right that I do that. I mean, I do go up there in the spring and fuck those roads all up. They're tons of fun. Use Google Maps, if you're curious.
