better than nothing.
They treat me well. I can get more and stronger.
must be nice.....:)
It's pretty much the only good thing about smashing a femur. I'm not going to pretend otherwise, I quite enjoy the opiates. I also appreciate that I've a great team of medical professionals that take care of me.
This is yet one more area where one's ability to pay seems to make a difference. I suspect I'd have very different treatment if I were too poor to pay and had to rely on something like state provided insurance, or no insurance at all.
I can ask for stronger dosages, even. I get asked, every single time, if my pain medication is adequate. They even know that I save up and then take extras on some days. They still provide me with the dosage needed if every single day was a bad day and I needed to take every dose for breakthrough pain. They operate under the assumption that I will need to take my dilaudid 6 times per day - every 4 hours, as needed.
I did have them give me a stronger dose for the oxycodone. It's time release, as well. I had them make that change a while back. I get 2x15mg oxy every six hours. I have them do it that way instead of giving me the 30mg tablets. Unless it's a really shitty day, I only take 15mg every 6 to 8 hours and don't take might nighttime dose. I time it so that I'm still within 8 hours before I fall asleep.
I've actually got at least 1.5 months full oxy and 2 full months of hydrocodone stashed. When I'm drinking (or doing other drugs) I tend to not really mix them or do them in large quantities. I've been drinking a lot of wine and rum, and doing some stimulants here and there. So, coupled with my only taking small doses and doing other stuff, I've got quite a stash going.
