I am finding I am immursing myself in the hobby a bit more than I thought I would, I figured I would just learn to play and that would be that, yet here I am trying to learn how to build the damn things.

I’ve looked at quite a few amps online I don’t really have the funds for one so what I’ve got will do for now, but the minute I can afford it I’ll probably pick up one... maybe two. It’ll happen I just have to be patient

I figured. That time when you're being patient can also be used to educate yourself and make an informed decision.

You'll want to replace the cord it came with, as well. With the amount of playing you'll do, they won't hold up long before an end fails. You can consider them a consumable, like strings - but less frequent replacements. More expensive doesn't always mean better. It may also matter what you're trying to accomplish.

I cheat and, on stage, go wireless. The price has really come down on them, but I'd consider those consumables as well. Eventually, you'll have spares.

Wait until you start your guitar strap collection.

It happens...

Some might suggest that learning to play guitar is a pretty stupid thing to do. I will never make enough money, with my music, to pay for even half my collection. If I work out how much it is that I've been paid hourly? It's absolutely less than minimum wage.

You knew full well that musicians are poor, when you went into it! I've told people this dozens of times!

Nah, you don't really have to spend all that much. You can - and possibly will. I don't even want to know what I've spent on guitars, amps, etc... It was worse when I was still pretty poor, meaning it had a pretty big impact on my overall finances.

You'll have fun, I'm pretty sure of it. Just don't let it sit in the corner. Guitars get lonely and it's not going to learn how to play itself.

How many hours are you practicing per day?

I know being patient is probably good for me, but I don’t have to like it. I’m pretty good about not spending money I don’t have on things, I have a strong dislike for debt. So I’ll wait, but it’ll get there eventually.

I’m managing about an hour a day at the moment, I’d like to spend more time on it than that but life has managed to get in the way between poal and cleaning up the loose ends with the school, I’ve been really more busy than I’d like. I’ll get more time into it soon, once things slow down a bit more.

An hour a day is fine. Don't stress it. It'll just take time, but you can do fine with an hour a day. Even 15 minutes a day is a good start. The goal is to make it a habit.

I probably won't play at all, for the rest of today at least. I'm just not feeling it.

And, in reply to your other comment, it's a lot of fun on stage. It's work, but it's fun. I have a good time up there. Even if I don't, the audience sees me only with my game face.
