Do you not enjoy Hendrix? Why does it have to be a competition?

Hendrix had B- blood.

In answer to both of your questions:

Frank Zappa is already on my list. He was way up higher in the list.

I think Hendrix is a wonderful artist and I love his music.

It's a competition because people have ranked Hendrix as the greatest guitarist in the world. As a guitar player, I find that an affront. As much as I may like Hendrix, he wasn't actually all that skilled.

It is my opinion that the greatest guitar player should be a metric decided with objective criteria.

I'd have zero complaints, or motivation for this work, if the statement was 'greatest artist.' Artist is subjective. Guitarist is technical. My goal is to fix this nonsense, once and for all.

By the way, this is all answered in the article - and in every preceding article - and has been addressed many times each week, as I publish these entries. I highly encourage you to read them, if you're truly interested.

Finally, I'm very qualified to offer an opinion about the technical abilities of these varied guitarists. If you're just now seeing this list, you may actually enjoy reading them. They're generally well received by those that take the time to do so and understand the premise and history of the list.

So who is your favourite guitarist?

[–] 1 pt

That will vary, depending on the mood I am in - and the criteria set. At any moment, I may have a favorite blues guitarist, a favorite rock guitarist, a favorite classical guitarist, etc...

And, at any moment, I'm quite likely to have another favorite guitarist - in any one of a number of different categories.

Some of my favorite guitarists aren't actually on this list.

An example that I frequently use is BB King. I loved him and I love his guitar work. However, he's not actually qualified to be on this list. Another one might be Jerry Garcia, but he's only barely on the list - or not on the list at all. Noel Paul Stookey is another one that's just not right to place on the list, because he won't shut up long enough to show his guitar ability and I'm pretty sure the concept of bitchin' solo is something that mortifies him.
