Seriously don’t you have to adjust the valves all the fucking time? That sounds like it would get old fast. My last bike was a Yamaha I swear by them, but I would love to have an 86 goldwing apenscade one of the first fuel injected bikes.
Nah, I never have to work on it. Granted, it doesn't really get a whole lot of miles. I've taken it out fewer than a dozen times this whole season. At most, I just do the regular maintenance, which is mostly keeping fluids topped off or swapped out once a year. This is only my second year with this bike. I got it used and at a fantastic price. It's been pretty much worry free, so far.
I also don't wind it out at the high end. It's a big bike and I don't even know how fast it will go. I'm sure as fuck never gonna find out. The guy I bought it from sold it because he'd bought it with a worker's comp settlement and sold it 'cause it scared him. It was way too much bike for him and is more bike than I'll ever use. So, it doesn't see any real abuse - just use.
It’s a Ducati you have to adjust the valves every 3k or at least that’s how the mid to late 2000s ones were. Pretty much if it gets an oil change it gets a valve adjustment. You might want too look into it would be damn shame for a bike like that to go early.
I can say it's not in the manual. There's no scheduled service in the period of time I expect to own it, other than fluids and tires. It's pretty reliable and I don't put many miles on it. It has only been something like 800 miles this year. I won't own it more than five years.
It's really only fun for about 120 miles, about 2 hours of ride time. It kinda sucks after that. It's not comfortable, at most any speed. The furthest I've been is when I brought it back from VT, after buying it. The missus was in the truck behind me and I took two days to do something I'd have done in just a single drive in a car.
So, it doesn't get many miles. Today was my second longest trip of the year, and we just went down into Skowhegan, the back way (out through Eustis and on 16, if you want to see it on a map). They hold their value very well, and I doubt I'll keep it for very long. It's just not comfortable and it is kind of absurd. I don't actually enjoy riding it as much as I did the previous bike - or even as much as I liked the Goldwing. It's stupidly fast but it's not even a little comfortable.
