All he uses his laptop for is internet browsing and writing lyric ideas down, so I don't know what part of it he didnt like

It should have done those things better than Windows. Not only better, but easier.

You don't need to fuck around with antivirus software. The entire thing updates itself all at once. You don't have to defrag. You don't have to install dodgy software. You just use it.
