I was just thinking about the occasional people I see in other posts during the week saying they play an instrument but they never show up on Friday night. I even invite them sometimes but they still don't. Wonder why they wouldn't want to share their music.
Lack of confidence and laziness, presumably?
I've had multiple people PM me and say they'd share but that I'm too good. I explain that it's not a competition and that sometimes has helped get 'em to at least share once or twice.
I realize it's scary to put yourself out there, especially the first few times. But as you've said "If we didn't have low standards we'd have no standards at all".
Maybe I'll try to make some "encouragement" posts during the week. Can't hurt.
I just checked that Voat clone and they didn't have a thread this week. Maybe after they get going for real they'll pick it up. Or they could just stop by here, if only for the thread. I've always been glad the FNGT is an island, apart from the other concerns of the day or the site. Just the fun of sharing music.
Oh, and I guess Preview V has finally died:
LOL I had completely forgotten about the other thread. I was going to give them a suggestion - which is to start archiving early on. If we'd started the archive on day one, it'd have been so much easier for you and we'd not be missing a thread in the archives.
I'd even give 'em their own section on the FNGT site to do so, if they wanted. They'd have to keep it separate, but I'd let 'em archive it there.
That they didn't have a thread this week is telling. It's a lot of work to do these every week. It takes heart, commitment, and strong desire to do this consistently. Those are things people think they have but often don't. It's unfortunate that they didn't follow through.
As for preview Voat finally dying - yup. Thanks for the heads up. I just looked and it's throwing a CF error.
