I used to eat them often. It was a cheap, easy, filling meal. It was even cheaper when my daughter turned vegetarian - I'd use TVP instead of hamburger for her portion.

It can be cooked just like hamburger. It's not bad. It is sometimes sold as 'Granburger', but that's a brand name I do believe. Granburger is basically packaged TVP and it's dumb to buy it when you can get bulk TVP for low costs.
The great thing about TVP is that you can use it to replace meat and it stores for a long, long time. If you store it like a grain, it has a very long shelf-life.
No, it doesn't taste like hamburger. It's not meant to. It has its own flavor and it's actually pretty tasty.
