We get very different treatment at the hands of the police and the justice system.
The cops take one look at my record and see felony battery to a judge listed on there and that's all it takes
I try to avoid any and all interaction with the police as much as possible.
Yup. They won't even see my assault on an officer of the law charge as that was squelched and settled in civil court - not even as a civil offense. I wasn't fined, I was found liable and made restitution. It's entirely different than a criminal or a civil charge that you have in regular court.
They see me and they know who I am already. They legitimately like me. They know I do quite a lot for the local community. They know that I was (technically still am) on the volunteer S&R crew. They know all sorts of good stuff about me. They see a few minor pot charges if they even bother looking. Those may not even show up, as they weren't criminal offenses.
Luckily for me, I do not have very many interactions with them.
Indeed.
I made comfort food for tonight's dinner. We're eating Manwhich/Sloppy Joes.
