Once again, it's time for the FNGT!

If you don't know how this works, . That link will take you to another site to give you some additional information and tell you about some of our off-site features. That's also the site where we will host the weekly guitar threads, should Poal go down.

NOTE: That site is by invitation only. If you want an invite, and you're a regular participant, then just ask COF, Crazy, or myself.

If you do know what's going on, you probably don't need to click that link - but you may want to, to make sure you know of the other features, such as the archive or a separate forum that's invite only.

Remember, we are guests here on Poal. Let's act like it. If you're interested in supporting Poal, then .

Hello everyone. The other day my friend Chris stopped bye with a case of beer, and we tried to play some songs. I don't know the problem was but we could not get through anything we tried to do, not once. I would have shared it here tonight if we had.

Anyways a couple of hours after Chris came over a few of his friends showed up to take him off to some party somewhere and he left. I was like fuck. I don't want to share fucked up songs that we didnt make it to the end of.

Then there was a knock on the door and one of my old friends who plays guitar and drums was at the door and he had some time to kill. So we jammed

Here is an impromptu performance by myself and my old friend Jason.

We didn't do much jamming this week, so you did enough for all of us!

And, we could have a *NGT on the new Voat on an alternative night.

This guy is pretty good at his lead guitar and I thought some of the parts we played together sounded great together, some of it was off cause the guitars were not tuned the same at all, and I had to figure it out on the fly on a song i never ever heard of or played before. I thought i pulled it off! LoL

[–] 2 pts

LOL You're supposed to tune 'em. We've been over this a dozen times!

[–] 2 pts

No matter who you're playing with you always have a great time. Sounds like another fun evening.

[–] 2 pts

i have known him for many years, and i have actually shared him playing with his band from the 90's and him playing my drums on the FNGT in the past. But this was actually the first time we sat down and played guitar together. Which is unbelievable as I have known him for forty years and he was always a guitar player at least. You'd think we would have jammed out before now but it just never happened

Hey y'all, Happy Friday! It's hard to fuck up a Friday.

Here's somethin' I did about 25 years ago, just dickin' around in my home studio.

[–] 2 pts

Sounds 50s/early 60s to my earballs.

I assume the title is for "I don't remember"?

[–] 3 pts

Lol yeah, I found a cassette with twelve early songs that I know had names when I put 'em all together, but the track sheet is missing. Probably somewhere in that pile over there.

[–] 2 pts

I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but I never really recorded myself when I was younger.

[–] 2 pts

I like it. It gives off a Grateful Dead vibe to my ears

[–] 2 pts

It was one of those songs that formed from no idea. I recorded a drum machine for a few minutes, then stuck a random one-shot bass track on that, then stuck some one-shot recordings of guitar on top of that, mixed it down to a cassette, and called it good.

[–] 1 pt

I kept expecting you to sing something!

[–] 2 pts

That's a real cool tune.

[–] 1 pt

Thanks. I have quite a few "finished" unfinished tracks on cassettes, thrown into boxes, waitin' for an inspired vocalist.

[–] 3 pts

*members Voat :(

[–] 2 pts

Nice to see you around again. Everybody got scattered to the wind when Voat died. Maybe some others will eventually come back around.

[–] 2 pts

Hey man. The Voat diaspora happened.

[–] 2 pts

Indeed.

There's a new Voat, but I have no idea if they've got any staying power.

[–] 3 pts

That isn't Voat

[–] 2 pts

I don't spend any time there, so I haven't got a clue what they're really about.

[–] 2 pts

Hello! Welcome to another FNGT! Like normal, we'll go ahead and get you started.

Biff got her final Christmas present today (a lovely bespoke 718 Spider) and we invested zero time in recording. So, we have nothing new for this week. In fact, we spent the bare minimum time playing and quite a bit of time out breaking in her present. I still haven't driven it.

So, something from the archives is in order. We figured some classical work would be nice, so here you go:

You should like it just fine! If not, I don't know what to tell you!

[–] 3 pts

Your classical pieces are always so lovely and really demonstrate your skills. They are so rich in expression.

[–] 2 pts

I should probably do more. I know a ton already and they just need to be recorded, which really doesn't take all that much time.

[–] 2 pts

This is absolutely beautiful!

[–] 2 pts

Thanks. Glad ya liked it.

I really should do more classical pieces.

[–] 2 pts

Yes. That was delicious.

[–] 1 pt

I love the classical music.

[–] 2 pts

Man alive you sure can play. Nocturne is definitely what that is. It does conjure images of night time when listening to it.

[–] 1 pt

Glad ya liked it. I was mentioning that I should do more classical pieces. They'd actually take less time, as it's just me playing and it's not generally a lot of work to polish them up in post.

[–] 0 pt

Just a heads up, if you enjoyed last week's track, you might wanna swing by this week's thread. I strongly suspect you'll enjoy it.

[–] 1 pt

Here is one with me and Chris and Verle that we made up as we played it and it turned out wonderful, we were just

Many applications are like that in Linux. If they want telemetry, they'll ask for it.

I actually usually enable it. After all, I want them to make the application better. If you go through the settings in WordPress, you'll probably see a few plugins asking for telemetry to be turned on - with different phrasing for them. I don't normally enable telemetry in that case, even if it's anonymous (or claimed to be). In that case, it's not just my data. So, I keep those disabled unless there's a good reason to enable them.

Here is another song of my friend who stopped by the other night, this one is him jamming on the electric guitar through the marshall practice amp, until his phone rang. , who ever the hell Sara is!

[–] 1 pt

You didn't comment regarding hosting a guitar thread on Voat on another night.

[–] 1 pt

I'm all for it! I want to do it on voat as it was anyways.

[–] 1 pt

I figure we can try it twice a week.

[–] 1 pt

Here is a song of me and Chris playing something sort of like the beginning of Metallica's Unforgiven. It's not the way they do it though.

[–] 2 pts

You're really getting into hammering that bottom note at the beginning of each chord. That's one of those arpeggio progressions that are fun to play and you can just go round and round with them.

[–] 1 pt

I was just loving the way that low E note sounded when it was ringing out, in my exuberance I actually missed the whole string a couple of times. LoL It was fun to play though. We were working on some other real good songs so I hope we can get them down and you all get to hear them next week

[–] 1 pt

You are correct! That is not how they play it!

Still, you're having fun and makin' music.

[–] 1 pt

It's not even close. Yet it is similar enough that people recognize it

[–] 1 pt

I could tell what you were aiming for. So, there's that!

It's a fun song to play, by the way. I'm pretty sure we've recorded it and shared it. We've done a ton of Metallica.

We should do more Black Sabbath, while I'm on the subject.

Also, did you click on an ad on my site?

[–] 0 pt

I did, just one

[–] 0 pt

Thanks. It appears to have not registered the click.

I'm not sure how Google expects me to test these things. It'd be pretty sweet if I could test it and then go 'unregister' those clicks by letting them know that they were test clicks.
