So, when he gets out of the shelter they'll pay 14 months worth of rent?

That may not be a good thing for a person like him on a fixed income. Those 14 months he's gonna have 'a lot' (to him) of 'spare' money. Because of the system, he can't even put it in the bank or invest it. (The system is fucking broken.)

well he does not have any furniture or housewares so at first some of his extra money is going to go for things like that.

he had been talking about getting a bike with a motor on it so he could get around town easier. I tried to tell him a mobility scooter would be best for him in his shape, so maybe he can save and get one of them, but he doesn't save so I doubt it.

If he saves the money in the bank, or invests it, they'll fucking penalize them and take money out of his check.

Verle has never had to worry about being penalized for keeping money or investing it. That never happened
