Once again, it's time for the FNGT!

If you don't know how this works, click this link (fngt.gq). That link will take you to another site to give you some additional information and tell you about some of our off-site features. That's also the site where we will host the weekly guitar threads, should Poal go down.

NOTE: That site is by invitation only. If you want an invite, and you're a regular participant, then just ask COF, Crazy, or myself.

If you do know what's going on, you probably don't need to click that link - but you may want to, to make sure you know of the other features, such as the archive or a separate forum that's invite only.

Remember, we are guests here on Poal. Let's act like it. If you're interested in supporting Poal, then you can donate.

Hey guys, I hope you'e all enjoying the beautiful summer weather on this lovely weekend.

I'm messing around with a slide again. I think I might actually try to clean this one up and try to complete it.

Worry Whip (soundcloud.com)

Is that a fuzz box kicking in at about the 1:00 mark?

[–] 3 pts

It's an EH Big Muff Pi I bought last fall. I haven't had much time to dick around in my studio because this new house needs a lot of tlc.

[–] 2 pts

Ah, that makes sense.

The name of said box could be misconstrued given Biff's nickname was "EH" for quite a while.

[–] 2 pts

Nice, a little JL Hooker Mississippi Blues.

[–] 2 pts

Oh hell yeah, I like that one. Reminds me of zz top

[–] 2 pts

I recently re-listened to the first 6 zz top albums, so that stuff was rollin' around in my uead.

[–] 2 pts

Cool! Ain't nothing wrong with zz top!

Welcome to another FNGT! Like normal, we'll go ahead and get you started!

This is just a cell phone recording, lovingly made better by my wife.

I should probably set the stage... It was the 4th of July and we were done working at 23:00. This was probably recorded around 00:15, with a mix of people on the stage in various stages of intoxication.

In fact, at this point, I'm not even playing a guitar. I'm just doing vocals. I'm more than a little intoxicated and doing my Robert Plant impersonation, including singling out women and pretending to be singing to them as we covered this song:

BDE - Whole Lotta Love (07.04.21) (share.fngt.gq)

I saw tits. Yes, yes I did.

Also, by then my voice was shot. That's not necessarily a bad then when you're trying to cover Plant.

Rock on!

[–] 3 pts

Kicked ass!

[–] 2 pts

Glad ya liked it. That's why our band is so well liked. Though this was technically after the show, where we just had a giant jam session.

[–] 3 pts

Eh, still music

[–] 3 pts

Damn right, Rock On! Great vocals.

[–] 1 pt

I figured you'd enjoy it and the story behind it. I was well and truly inebriated by that point, but still maintaining. Then again, I seldom drink more than I can while still maintaining.

By the time that song was done, we were basically just having a giant party. In a way, it was a little like my normal 4th of July festivities.

Anyhow, that's my Robert Plant impersonation. I have some other tracks from this past weekend, but none are ready for sharing. They're just one giant file without any editing.

Sounds like a great time. What a way to end a 3-day holiday weekend.

[–] 2 pts

Well that explains your Janis Joplin imitation. There's like 3 singers that sing with that gravely voice. Her, Plant and Rod Stewart. I reckon you sing Maggie Mae, eh?

Anyway, check out this song by Python Lee Jackson, In A Broken Dream. You can probably sing it.

[–] 0 pt

Oh, I cover Rod Stewart. Yes, yes I do. Maggie Mae is a long-time favorite of mine.

I'll check out the song when I get a minute. I'm just recently getting home and I'll have to deal with guests shortly.

[–] 1 pt

That sounded fucking great, was that you singing?

[–] 2 pts

I'm just doing vocals.

Yes. That's me with a tired voice, a bit more to drink than necessary, and generally having a good time on a stage with a large audience.

[–] 1 pt

It sounded awesome to me!

Hey everybody. Earlier this week my friend Chris came over and we jammed out for a few hours, then last night another friend of mine that is a drummer came over and we jammed out for several hours. There was this new song idea I had been working on and I ended up playing it with both of them with them playing along with me what ever the hell they felt like playing.

Here it is with Chris on guitar accompanying me what did you do (soundcloud.com)

and here is my drummer friend plating along with me on mostly the same song, it starts out something different but then the song I just played with Chris kicked in. What did you just do? (soundcloud.com)

I think they're both cool as hell, and they both are so different.

[–] 1 pt

Listened to the first one so far. The tone and reverb on the lead reminds me of a late night '60's jam in a San Fran bar filled with incense. Yes, Officer, that's just incense.

[–] 1 pt

Thanks COF! LoL There were definitely some smells emanating from the studio that night!

[–] 1 pt

Listening to the 2nd one now. The first was alright.

[–] 1 pt

It's cool to jam with a drummer. It's been a long time I got to play with a drummer live and not the invisible variety

[–] 1 pt

Good drummers are hard to find. There's a lot of 'competent' and 'barely competent' drummers out there.

[–] 1 pt

Last night when my drummer friend was here I played my own original song 'Fuck the World' along with him. I had been wanting to play that song along with a drummer ever since I wrote it.

So, here is me playing Fuck the World (soundcloud.com) with my friend on drums last night. I thought he picked up the beat pretty damned nicely in parts of it.

And here (soundcloud.com) is my original recording of it with the lyrics and the computer playing the drums I programmed it to do if you're interested.

[–] 2 pts

Man alive that is awesome. I had no idea a drummer could send your guitar into the stratosphere.

That guy is a keeper.

[–] 1 pt

I am hoping to get him over here when Chris is over and all three of us can make some music together

[–] 0 pt

Damned right!

I'm just getting back from my daily drive and have company. So, I'm quickly catching up.

[–] 0 pt

I just woke up LoL

[–] 0 pt

My guests are gone.

[–] 1 pt

Here is me and Chris doing an acoustic version of spirit in the sky (soundcloud.com)

[–] 1 pt

I haven't heard that song in a while.

[–] 1 pt

Chris and I also played Black Sabbath Paranoid (soundcloud.com) acoustic guitar style

[–] 1 pt

I'll have to listen tomorrow. I'm now streaming other stuff with the wife.

[–] 1 pt

Thats all good. I'm sure lucky to have friends that stop over to jam with me cause it's way more fun to play music along with other people than it is to play alone.

[–] 1 pt

Damned right!

I will be taking off soon. I'm fading fast.
