It seems that despots and tyrants like to have a demon from the past to point to and compare their adversaries to. If they don't have a legitimate one, they just create one.
I hate the government, well really the corruption in their, but you can't have one without the other, and really I try to give them as little as humanly possible. I don't want to support them.
At least these days we have some checks and balances. As bad as it may seem, it could be so much worse.
The Qtard's behavior may well have damaged the conservatives for a generation, which probably isn't all that great. I'm all for progress, but unfettered progress is pure insanity. The pendulum swings both ways, so it could be pretty dramatic in the US for a while.
Fortunately, there's pretty much fuck-all the government can do to me, so long as I pay my taxes. I have zero fear of the government.
