As a beginner, I'm told that usually songs mostly use the 1, 4 and 5 chords (e.g. C major songs mostly use C, F and G), but does this apply to modes as well? Thinking about getting started with the basics, not every esoteric possibility here. For instance, if you're in Dorian in the key of C so your root note is D and the other notes are all naturals, would the "basic" chords be D, G and A as 1, 4 and 5? Enlighten me, please.

I don't have any "work" yet, maybe in a couple of years. It takes about 5 years to be worth listening to, doesn't it? Every now and then I have some earworm pop up in my head that might be original.

Oh hell no. We welcome all skill levels. We're just a bunch of homemade music lovers who enjoy sharing whatever comes up. Music is better when shared.

I'm sure Biff would scoff at the idea that it takes x-amount of time to be worth listening to.

Yeah, I thought that was kinda dumb. Biff proves what practice and dedication can do. Others, they can play for years and years and never become technically proficient. I think there is a degree of innate talent but it requires work to bring it out and polish it.
