I put down a guitar track, then another, then a few more just for good measure. I mixed it out and it didn't sound too bad.

Hell yeah man! Jam on! Fuck yeah!
I can dig it.

My friend Christopher came over last night and we hung out in the studio for hours drinking beer and making noise. Here is a cover of a Daniel Johnston song that we played last night, Mean Girls Give Pleasure (soundcloud.com)
Great job on the cover.
DJ wrote a lot of pretty songs, and if he had had George Martin as a producer (and hadn't been burdened with mental illness) his stuff would have been just as solid as the Beatles.
I was lucky enough to see him twice. Both times he brought a six-pack of Mt Dew onstage, and finished it before the end of the set.
Thanks!
That's so awesome that you got to see him! His songs are so touching and honest!
Yeah, I have his autograph on a few things from when I saw him at Bumbershoot. Really friendly fellow.
Here's his original "True Love Will Find You In The End". (youtube.com) Raw and dark, recorded to a cassette player.
There have been a lot of covers, but check out this version. (youtube.com)
If someone could've produced him, he would've been huge.
Carried over:
Mike signs his pretty consistently. He goes by "Music Man Mike" and uses some notes in his signature. The whole crew is there in ink. That took me like six hours of driving and visiting. After all the other BS that went into getting 'em!
And, that's an entirely new song to me. Never heard it before.
That Daniel Johnston is some schizophrenic guy who wrote songs and recorded them in his parents basement in the 80's. He got famous somehow and some of his songs are awesome
LOL Until today, I don't think I've ever heard of 'em.
Hello and welcome to another FNGT! Like normal, we'll get you started.
Tonight, we have a mystery track. It's from 2019. There's actually another version of this out there somewhere, but this one is unknown. We prettied it up, mostly Biff did, and now submit it for your approval:
BDE - Riders On The Storm (unknown - sometime in 2019) (share.fngt.gq)
It's BDE live, that much I know. In the larger recording, it sounds like a sitting audience. It might be from the blues bar where we ended up sticking around to do a Sunday show. I'm not really sure.
Rock on, Poalr Bears! Rock on!
Damn that sounds fantastic. You know Jim Morrison was a Frank Sinatra fan.
I've long said that if Jim were alive today, he'd be a lounge singer in Vegas.
Seriously, listen to his music - especially the vocals. He'd be a lounge singer.
I kinda want to do a lounge version of Crystal Ship, now that I think about it.
Impressive for a live version. Biff knows her stuff and adding the effects takes it over the edge.
Thanks! We've shared a live version before, I'm pretty sure - from looking in the archives - but just once and that was in 2020. So, we're not quite sure which show this is from. Needless to say, we've performed this song quite a few times. For whatever reason, the fans love it.
it sounds like it's raining!
It's supposed to, at least at the start and during parts of the song. That'd be (likely) Biff pushing the right buttons at the right time.
LoL yeah I know. It just ended. You all covered that to a 'T'!
Here is another one Chris and I jammed out last night. Our version of Warren Zevon's Lawyers, Guns and Money (soundcloud.com)
Very good. You know this guy a couple great songs that Linda Ronstadt did real good. Course she was only the greatest.
Anyway, he did Poor Poor Pitiful Me which is about some guy that's down on his luck and Carmelita about some drug addict.
Thanks man!
For much of Zevon's stuff, covering it doesn't really sound right unless you've got the keys/piano in there.
That said, I'm a pretty big Zevon fan. Sweet!
Well we didn't do any overdubs this week. Maye we should have did a piano track and played along with it!
Slight problem with that...
The piano player has to be kinda good. You'll need someone to play it who knows what they're doing. Usually...
