If you don't know, @COF has cancer and is unlikely to recover. Yeah, shit sucks...

As it stands, they're unable to do the archives and haven't been able to get to them for a couple weeks. (That's perfectly understandable, as they expected they'd be able to do them and it turns out they can't.)

You're one of the busier people. @Crazy is going to do the archives, we hope. However, it'd be great if others learned how to do them and helped out, perhaps even helping out opening the threads once in a while.

Here is a riff I been working on being able to play, this fucker is so busy it makes it hard. Sometimes I forget the chord changes I am focusing on hitting all the notes in the riff and I have to start over. I think it's a real cool riff though and in the different keys it sounds cool to me. Here is me playing it, I just called it outcast (soundcloud.com)

Hello! Welcome to another FNGT! I'll go ahead and get you started.

I had one hell of a turkey day. I pretty much slept through all of today. We actually kinda planned on banging something out today, but that ain't gonna happen. So, you get a song that has been shared once before. It's one we've used for Thanksgiving before. Y'all might like it.

@COF's health has deteriorated to the point where he's no longer able to do the archives. If someone would like to step up and help, now would be the time to make that known. It probably will take you up to an hour a week - if you listen to all the songs a second or third time. There's lots of reference material to see how the archives are done.

As such, I'd like to express my thanks to COF for all the hard work and hours he's given the FNGT.

It is with the deepest regret I can no longer do the archives. It has been a privilege to be a part of this great effort to keep homemade music alive. I wish I could continue but it wouldn't be fair to you, crazy, and the few active submitters to let them lapse. I'm glad the archives have been of use. I'll still try to be part of Friday nights when I can as you have been such a joy to listen to.

In actuality, once someone becomes familiar with how to do them, it should only take 20 mins or so to do each one. As I don't type very well, I use cut and paste from earlier weeks and that helps me quite a bit. But anyone can figure out what works best for them.

With all that said, I'm not dead yet (youtube.com).

Do you have any tips besides those for the next person to take the torch?

I suppose you could check Crazy's work the first couple of times, assuming you have the ability to do so.

That said, I can't thank you enough for the years of work you've given to us. Your archives are legendary.

It's been a privilege. It's you, the submitters, that are the whole reason for the thread and I'm glad I could help in that effort. Man, 4 years of every Friday night is truly an accomplishment and deserves so much credit keeping homemade music alive. I wish you all continued success and I'll still be around on Friday's whenever I'm able. Heaven don't want me and Hell's afraid I'll take over.

It was, but not as fun as it sounds. Lots of skinned knuckles and crying.

Today I get to lie on the cold driveway, and change the starter. I made a cake last night so I could celebrate afterward. Tomorrow I will be playing my 1940s German stand-up bass thru my Ampeg all day, because I have the house to myself for a change.
