One can easily by a 200 electric guitar and make it sound amazing. Proper setup and Amp setting make huge difference. Got ab30% humbucker sounds amazing. Even when split coil it sound damn near like a single coil.
Pickups can drastically change tone but there is also an endless time section in that department. My main purpose with this post is take that cheap one upgrade pots for 30 bucks change it tuners if has tremolo go for new trem block. Had guitar setup properly and you'll see $500 difference. Check out zexcoils most efficient and down right design crushing pickups out there. Scott blew it out the box
The jew fears the amateur luthier.
Yes they do they hate people who dont buy theyre cookie cutter cnc dookies
My old Squier Affinity Telecaster just had lots of issues with intonation, even after I had it setup by a professional as part of the warranty. It was also super temperamental with respect to finger pressure; slightly too hard or too soft and it would be way out of tune. The upgrade definitely feels worth the money.
If you have a squier that doesnt work correctly then upgrade new bridge makes world of difference. Neck could be to useless and need replacing as mine does. Necks are like hot girls you dont know if they are woryh keeping until you work them a bit. If ya still have it i recommend a new neck bridge and pots and see how that adjust tone for ya. I aint a lutherie but love guitars and am part of a guitar then specfically makes 100 dollar guitars outplay 1k guitars. Making a shit guitar play well is an art and generally jist requires proper setup inclusing checking bridge for truex check8ng br8dge for install at right length which commony are not straight nor at proper distance from neck. Pickups are hit or miss and most change them but i didnt change my 4.6k ohm neck and middle single coils were horrible until i changed pots and caps now they sound amazing. I aint telling yeah to mod but enjoy and learn teach yourself everything you can. If you dont have to mod to aquire proper tone thanks to solid cash flo well enjoy that nice guitar and make videos for us. Hell if got the squier make a v8deo playing love to hear it
I absolutely love getting turds(and other stratocaster shaped objects) to play like top shelf guitars. This is from a very semi-pro luthier who has made quality shit too. Everything u/minimalarch has said is on point. It can be a process to determine whats fucked up and how to best fix it, but it's rare I find an entirely unsaveable guitar. That's usually what the price difference in good and bad guitars is anyway. The attention to detail and setup.
I get that it can be daunting for people new to it, but it's really not as hard as you might think. Just youtube your problems and find a video about fixing it. Unless it's a badly twisted neck. Just replace or throw that shit out unless it's some vintage rarity. That's my "fuck it" repair. such a pain to try and correct that.
I sold it to finance my new guitar, but thanks for sharing!
