LOL No, it's not too physically tough these days. It's a ton of responsibility and stress. While it's not all that hard, any deviation from the rules/regulations is damning. There's no such thing as an engineer that made repeated mistakes.
You also gotta know a whole lot, for the myriad of hings that can go wrong. But, the day to day operation is so mundane that you have to press a button every five minutes to prove you're not asleep. At the same time, when things go wrong they can go wrong REALLY badly.
I wouldn't want the job.
