I intend to be a 'committed' beginner.
It probably helps that I know what to look for. I've been able to find some pretty sweet deals on stuff that at least looks usable on paper.

Oh, of course... But, they'll be playable.
And, for the price, I can't really find anything that piques my interest all that much. This looks playable.

(I can't just use pedals. A new guitar student would not have pedals.)
My next purchase will probably be a multi-effects pedal. I want to eventually get an estimate of what it really costs to get into guitar.
There are some not too bad multi effects pedals for under $100 out there. Zoom ones usually or chinese stuff. What's the difference LoL
I am sure the CNC machining makes them much better than in the past and much more playable
