I grew up when nu metal wass the thing. 7 string guitars, down tuned, and bass playing mids which the guitars used to fill. Ie Korn.

Now as I am older realised standard tunning is a thing and have gotten really into 70's hard rock.

Yep Bass should be an octave bellow the guitar. Standard tuning..

I can't play guitar for shit tbh. Like 3 songs a couple scales and a bunch of chords mostly bar. Granted i've played maybe 3 times in the past decade.

Yeah I gave up on metal bass as a teenager, too hard to understand what was going on, just heard guitar and bass drums. Went to funk for a while, switched to guitar when I had kids and became a mega home body and I'm playing nothing but classic rock, blues and metal these days.
