If I was your girlfriend, I'd probably murder you in your sleep. Ain't no way I'd be putting up with that shit when I came home from work.
And, she made an informed choice. I will say that for her. She knows exactly what she's buying.
I realize you don't know the guitar, but the 'decade' knob was a crazy idea from Les Paul (who had many crazy ideas, including his 'black box') and Gibson. It kinda makes your guitar sound like a sitar. I can think of no good reason to own one.
Hmm... Also, not only is the guitar unknown, you might not know about Les and his 'black box'. All of these things might make good search terms when you sober up tomorrow. I will say that his black box was kinda neat. He invented the looper before there was a looper - and invented a ton of other shit, much of which he crammed into his black box.
But, the Les Paul Jumbo was in the early 70s, as I recall. It was an acoustic electric, but folks tend to think of it as a hollow body electric guitar - which, I suppose, it is. It doesn't even have the normal guitar jack, it requires some adapter. Gibson and Les Paul, recently divorced from Mary Ford, needed money and made more Les Paul guitars - and this was one of 'em.
While I'm here, I will share another topical bit of trivia for you - that you quite likely do not know! The original SG Gibsons were actually also Les Paul models. It was the Les Paul SG - meaning 'solid guitar'. They had the rights to his name and slammed his name on it for like the first three years of production - until the sixties. Les' contract with them expired and he had them take his name off the guitar. Since then, it has just been known as the "SG".
And now you know...
You're welcome!
(Biff thinks that I know 'too much' about guitars. I argue and say that I don't know enough. She thinks I should just play - but to me it's a hobby that's far more involved. I love knowing the lore, the trivia, and the errata from the decades of history the modern guitar has.)
It's a Les Paul!
Authentic Gibson
I bet it sounds great.
They dont build guitars to sound like shit
Unless you count the 70s and from about 2015 to 2020.
Gibson has had some pretty shitty years. The 70s was when they were owned by a conglomerate and the late 2010s they were under shitty leadership - which has now changed.
I sure there are some good examples in those years. I would hope. The guys building them didn't all get fired did they?
