Once again, it's time for the FNGT!

You can get a metronome app for your phone for free. If you have a tablet, it can be even bigger. Just stand it up where everyone can see it and have everyone follow it - including using it to count in the band. "And a 1, and a 2, and a 2, and a 4", (for 4/4 timing, of course).

I'm kinda a dick sometimes. I'll count people in by fucking with 'em. "And a one, and a three, and a two, and a 9" and then start playing. Sometimes I'll use colors, or whatever springs to mind.

As long as you're doing it in a consistent tempo I wouldn't care what you were saying!

Only if I want to fuck with 'em do I mess up the tempo - which is usually called to a halt after maybe an opening bar where I childishly grin and say 'got ya' and the audience all has a laugh at my shenanigans.
