Once again, it's time for the FNGT!

If you don't know how this works, . That link will take you to another site to give you some additional information and tell you about some of our off-site features. That's also the site where we will host the weekly guitar threads, should Poal go down.

NOTE: That site is by invitation only. If you want an invite, and you're a regular participant, then just ask Crazy, or myself.

If you do know what's going on, you probably don't need to click that link - but you may want to, to make sure you know of the other features, such as the archive or a separate forum that's invite only.

Remember, we are guests here on Poal. Let's act like it. If you're interested in supporting Poal, then .

So you would have to pay to have a fiber run installed to your home from Rt. 16 like you did with the DSL?

That would solve all of your connectivity issues, until a tree falls on it!

Indeed, I would. I'd pay for that in a heartbeat. I'd pay 'em enough to bury the line, in fact.

I actually paid for just about two miles out of the village to just about a mile past my place. I only paid for the equipment, however. The phone company paid for the installation. It's basically a repeater (technically two) / booster type of box that sits on the side of the road. The only wire that had to be replaced was further out and then past my house (I had them do the whole road). I want to say the wire was good for ~9 miles out of the village, something like 7 miles past the first repeater. Something like that, at any rate.

The bill came to about $30k The neighbor's chipped in a few grand, but not much. They didn't know me well at that point, so when I told 'em they didn't have to pay a damned thing but that it'd be sweet if they did, they only chipped in a little.

And, yeah... I got my 30k out of it. It has easily paid for itself in my enjoyment and use. The lines went up in 2008, so yeah...

That is quite a bit of time to have good internet in the middle of nowhere

Damned right. I moved back to dialup when I first got here. 30k was worth every fucking penny.
