Yeah, it does make a whole lot of sense
I'm gonna guess that some other modern cars don't have one - those in the exotics category - but I don't know. I just happen to know it for the M6 'cause the dealer told me. I suspect it's true for others, I just don't know. I don't make an engine blow one of my habits.
The only way I could see you going over is if you were in the top gear and trying to go faster
I'm actually a pretty firm believer in that whole red line thing.
I have 'mechanical empathy'.
I tend to keep it below the red line.
Now, if I was racing for points/money/a car that didn't belong to me.... Well, I might be inclined to push it at the end of the race - but I'm a big fan of the racing adage...
If you want to finish first, you have to first finish.
But, I'd likely push it here and there - if I was racing for points or a series or similar... I'm not gonna push it all that much in my own cars. They call 'em limits for a reason, that's my thinking.
