Neck is about 5.8-5.9 Middle is about 5.6-5.7

I've wound my own pickups with borrowed gear. Definitely pot 'em. No matter how good you think you did, it makes zero sense to not pot them.

Just use the cheap paraffin wax your grandmother used to use when canning strawberry preserves. You can use a dedicated crock pot, or just clean out the pan after. Be aware of the temperature, keeping it just barely enough to melt the wax. It won't be hot enough to hurt anything. Let it sit in the wax until all the bubbles stop.

No, you probably wouldn't be familiar with the song. I'd be a bit surprised if you were. The song is on YouTube and the vocals make it quite different than what you're probably expecting.
