Why should they? You've now gotta provide for their education, defense, and welfare.

Fuck, if I was a country I'd be doing everything I could to make the United States take me over. I'd be all about that shit.

I suspect we'll merge with Mexico before we do so with Canada. Believe it or not, the reason behind why we'd merge with Mexico is climate change. We'd finally merge because we need to stem the tide of refugees at some point, and a longer border is a better border - so long as you can defend it.

To put it into a bit smaller a perspective, think of all the people who'd like to be one of my heirs and a family member as compared to how many want to be an heir from someone with less means.

They want to be your heir cause they are greedy. The lure of easy money has a very strong appeal.

And it's pretty much universal...

If we take over Canada, we've gotta take care of their poor, their weak, their mentally ill, etc...

Colonization was good for about 150 years. Everyone's too smart for it now. There's a reason we don't just take over Mexico. If we did, we'd have Mexicans going anywhere they wanted and needing resources to bring them up to the American standard.

Also, Mexico doesn't want to be taken over - but that's silliness on their part. They've got national pride and a very rich culture. That's fine... So didn't everyone else that amalgamated to become the mishmash America we have now.

That's a good thing. If they weren't concerned about that, they'd be doing everything they could think of to try to make the US take over and make them a state or territory or whatnot.
