I think if they see something illegal in plain view they can say probably cause. I know they found some guy sleeping in his car in a parking lot a month ago and saw a pipe in the ashtray through the car window and that gave them probably cause to break the window and search the car and find the drugs and arrest the guy
Absolutely. If they can see it, they then have grounds to enter and search.
And, I really shouldn't be browsing Craigslist for more gear.
The (approximate) totals:
~80 guitar cases & ~30 gig bags (some of these will be guitars purchased after selling the company, but made before moving)
~35 fairly large plastic totes with "music" written on them. They look like pedals, some old magazines and book, boxes of strings, various parts, lots of parts really, etc...
~25 guitar amps or cabs + another dozen or so small practice amps.
~2.5 drum kits with racks.
They're occupying what was a mostly empty room and they mostly fill the room with some pathways to walk through them.
So, the guitars are (we think) all at the house. There may be a few others hiding in the backs of the storage units.
They'll all get sent to the luthier who can clean, repair, and document them as needed. I'll probably (I typically send him 4 a month) see if he can handle twice that number. It'll be good for him, as it's business that'll take him all winter.
I remember you saying that you had some in an attic somewhere
Oh, that's not being counted. That's the attic above my garage and shop. That stuff was purchased while living here. So, that's a different bunch of nonsense that I happen to own.
I don't know if I have room for all this stuff.
Picture a T. Where the bottom part is, is my music room. Where the top part is, that's storage. I don't think I have room for all these older guitars. I am not sure what's going to happen with them, but I'll get them all repaired and documented first. I'll reach a decision when all that is done.
I really don't think I'll have room. I could probably remove the door/part of the wall - and move storage (things like cases, spare parts, boxes of strings) elsewhere, but I don't really want to have them in different parts of the house.
I didn't realize I had this much stuff. I'd forgotten quite a bit of it.
I finally found something at a good price. It's tempting to buy it and sell it on Reverb - but then I remember I don't actually have to work for money. So, I didn't go any further.
However, this would be perfect for you - and the value is excellent while not being all that expensive. You seriously need this:

Well, 'need' is a bit strong, but it'd help with your goal of getting a band going and getting your music out there. This is definitely a good start AND it's a lovely price. If I needed the gear, I'd be all over it.
