Once again, it's time for the FNGT!

If you don't know how this works, . That link will take you to another site to give you some additional information and tell you about some of our off-site features. That's also the site where we will host the weekly guitar threads, should Poal go down.

NOTE: That site is by invitation only. If you want an invite, and you're a regular participant, then just ask Crazy, or myself.

If you do know what's going on, you probably don't need to click that link - but you may want to, to make sure you know of the other features, such as the archive or a separate forum that's invite only.

Remember, we are guests here on Poal. Let's act like it. If you're interested in supporting Poal, then .

Hi guys, I hope everyone had a productive week. I canned up some pickled green tomatoes, and I'm gonna bust 'em out on a bratwurst here in a few minutes.

I covered a song by The Kinks.

[–] 1 pt

Great guitar work on that one.

[–] 1 pt

Thanks. I just learned it and recorded it in the last hour.

[–] 1 pt

That was particularly speedy. You've improved a great deal since your earlier contributions. It has been fun to witness.

One of the things I've noticed about the thread is the regular contributors tend to improve over time, even if they only participated for a few months.

[–] 1 pt

Great song man. Never heard it but it sure makes sense. Thanks for exposing this song to me. I gotta play this one.

First time contributor here. We'll see how this goes.

I'm gonna share a song called Diet of Worms(https://soundcloud.com/user-768654760/diet-of-worms-charles-v?si=93a925c289404ea09539c7333d70efd5) from a concept album I did a couple years ago. Kinda showcases a lot of different things I like to put into my songs so I thought it'd be a good choice...

[–] 0 pt

Welcome. Not really my kinda music, but the guitar parts sounded like fun.

[–] 1 pt

It is fun. Good tremolo and downpicking exercise in of itself.

[–] 0 pt

Needs more pinch harmonics! LOL

[–] 0 pt

Nice! Do you have the lyrics posted somewhere? It would be nice to scream along.

“Fate saw the jewel in me And pawed the heart apart to have it” I see the world inquisition Crosses on crosses, entangled silhouettes Charles, from ambitions never free, The sun will soon on your empire set

I seek destiny, from the mantle pushed again and again Magma bursting through the seas, resemble red mediterranean

Conscience, thy imposter In its stead, I bring but honesty For the inner voices are poisoning the wells Ye who prefers death over heresy Will soon heed that black knell

A broken spirit kissed by ash Crawling through its ravaged breast

Projecting your personal Devils, thy bethels breached

Endeavor, remember A peering monster A Habsburg jaw is no shield

Low submissive vassals In your citadels of heaven You traitors

Tyranny is a shelter for angels leading the blind Their eyes were scorched by the nectar Convenient pretensions of mankind

Hello and welcome to another FNGT! Like normal, we'll go ahead and get you started.

I don't have anything new this week. We almost did, but yesterday turned into something frustrating and so I drank a little bit and slept. I regret nothing.

How about something original to get this started?

Rock on, Poalr Bears! Rock on!

[–] 1 pt

That is great. This would sound so good at night when you're playing a concert.

[–] 0 pt

I'm not sure we could pull that off live. There's a lot of overdubbing in that one. Plus, with the various effects, I'd be tap-dancing up there on stage.

I think I have some original work that's not uploaded to the share site that I use (my own site).

I get my shit taken down by copyright infringement notices everywhere else that I post. So, I pretty much have to host it myself. Oddly, I've yet to get a single complaint now that I host it myself.

[–] 1 pt

I agree with Crazy. Your originals are always quality stuff.

[–] 1 pt

Thanks. We tend to put more effort into 'em. I have tons and tons of snippets and riffs, so it's fun to turn them into comprehensive works.

[–] 1 pt

Yeah man! That's crazy good. I had to listen to it twice.

[–] 1 pt

Excellent! Glad ya liked it!

[–] 1 pt

Hell yeah. I love the originals the most! This is so fucking awesome!

[–] 0 pt

It's one of my favorites. We spent some time on that one.

[–] 1 pt

We didnt spend any time on it, we looked up the chords and went for it!

[–] 1 pt

This is a work in progress... https://on.soundcloud.com/HqwSQ

[–] 1 pt

I love it. This girl that used to be here would love that song. Nadeshda.

[–] 1 pt

It's classified country - but is a uke. Not too many uke players in country, which is kinda odd considering country and Hawaiian music users used to be one and the same, as in it was the same band that played both as both gained popularity at the same time. Hawaiian music went through an insanely popular phase which was actually kinda why the electric guitar was invented. That and big band, though big band helped make it popular. This eventually led to a commercially produced electrical guitar, lovingly referred to as The Frying Pan.

[–] 1 pt

I did not know that. Cheers

[–] 1 pt

I say you can play country with anything you damned well please. So long as it works.

[–] 1 pt

Hello again everyone. Here is a song from last Friday night at my house when my friends Chris and Verle and I got all drunk with a couple women and sang a bunch of songs.

Here is our drunken version of from Guns and Roses

[–] 2 pts

I could only listen to that once cause I have to watch my drinking.

Sounds like a great time.

[–] 2 pts

watch your drinking? Like in a mirror?

[–] 1 pt

2 at least and I think they are revolving.

[–] 1 pt

Dafuq is that noise that sounds like crickets? Ceiling fan?

[–] 0 pt

Yeah there was a fan on that night, we forgot to turn it off when we were recording. Verle was hot LoL

[–] 0 pt

Well, the music wasn't very close BUT you get extra points for having fun.

COF was greatly amused when I showed him that song. I was introducing him to GnR, which was newer than 1970s. That was one of his favorite GnR songs.

[–] 0 pt

Yeah Chris had no clue, that album was from before he was born so he wasn't exposed to that like we were

[–] 0 pt

Yeah, but you were having fun. Plus, it's a great song.

COF's family didn't respond to my more angry email.

I'm just gonna take ownership of the site and stick ads on it.

Howdy y'all. See "y'all" works good with howdy. I hate the way niggers use "y'all!"

There's this dude on YT that I used to watch about 9 years ago. Larry L. He taught this song and I learned it from him. Had typed up the chords, lyrics about 9 years ago and learned his arrangement. Went back to search for it and it's still there.

[–] 0 pt

That's one of the good things about YouTube. Stuff doesn't disappear - oftentimes. (The user may remove it, but YouTube doesn't remove stuff unless it violates the rules/copyright and they don't even remove a lot of copyright infringement.)

That said, great song! I love your contributions.

[–] 1 pt

I played before YT was around and it was hard to learn songs. Now, there are so many lessons on there for just about any song. No excuse to not learn a song. Amazing times for guitar players.

[–] 0 pt

Oh, hell yes. Even cheap guitars are usable these days, though you may need to do some setup work to make them really good.

Gear is so cheap and so many tools are available at low/no cost. It's amazing.
