Does he have his own music and is the band going to play his songs? Or will he be playing their music?
Is doing the same 20 originals every night much different than doing those 40 cover songs?
I must have been paying more attention as I knew they were not aiming at the first rock there
He'd be playing their music and whatever he contributes to the band.
Gotta admit, while I do love (and prefer) a cover band (for reasons long since stated), the draw to do original work/work with your peers to bring new things to an audience is attractive.
This is the band that's asking him to play:

So, I'm not too worried about him leaving. He was likely just floating the idea in front of me to get a second opinion and see what I replied with. I don't see him doing this - but he might, and I'd wish him all the best without malice. People come and go in the industry, it's just a fact of life.
And, I was not paying nearly enough attention. I was flipping back and forth with some obligations on another pair of sites - plus you!
LOL I'm often doing way too much at the same time. This one browser has 99 tabs open. A second browser has 56 tabs open.
So, I'm pretty occupied.
I just got off the phone with Verle. He is back at home, they hooked him up with some oxygen tanks and an oxygen machine in his apartment with a tube that is long enough for him to go to the bathroom and the kitchen and his bed without taking it off. Says he has COPD
Man, I am listening to that band right now. If he goes ahead and joins that band, he will be playing for much smaller audiences. Yikes
Did you see the number of subscribers to their YouTube channel? The only saving grace is that they're somehow going to be touring with more important acts - except none of the other acts are even remotely popular. I didn't recognize a single name in the bunch. So, I assume they will have people in the audience? They can't have many fans, given the number of folks who subscribe to their YouTube page. I can get that many subscribers in a week - and that track has been up since 2019.
So, I suspect he was just floating the idea in front of me. I don't really think he'll leave. But, if he does, that's okay. We can find another drummer. Worst case, I can stay in Maine and do the drum work for the band until they find someone to replace him.
COPD is a motherfucker. However, O2 and fire don't mix. He'll need to leave the apartment to smoke safely. Even if he turns the equipment off, there's a high oxygen environment and smoking in that environment is straight up fucking retarded.
