I only use it among those who know. It's much easier than trying to talk about the entire thing, including the things that I don't actually live in.

It seems fairly informal to me. Here's an example:

"Hey, I haven't seen you in a dog's age. You and the missus should swing by the estate. I'll cook you some decent BBQ and show you around the barns 'cause I have some new pieces you haven't seen yet."

Yeah, that'd be how I use it.

It's not some snotty, "well, on my estate ..." type of shit.

I like to think I've stayed really down to earth throughout all this. I work a little, maybe a little hard, to ensure I'm not a snotty prick about shit like that. Hell, I even do this online. Pretty much every other site I frequent, nobody knows anything specific. They might (given the nature of the forums) know I have a guitar collection or a bunch of cars, but that's it. For all they know, I have a barn full of broken down cars - for example.

It's pretty much only here where I invite folks to watch me at an auction. Probably 'cause I only care about a few opinions.

Shit, outside of the guitar thread - and sometimes in it, I give zero shits about what anyone on Poal thinks. The people in the thread, the ones I'd count as online/real friends, I care about what they think of me to some extent.
