I've taken a big boy bike to a track a couple of times. Not my cup of tea, but it was exciting. Loudon has a bike-specific(ish) track. I'm much more comfortable taking a car around said track, even if it's not as wide as their oval. It has a delightful hairpin and a solid 90° with the slightest of banking on either.

My son was into dirt biking. He was crazy good on anything with two wheels. Well, he still is. He at one point thought he was going to be a professional. I spent five figures on his mountain bike - and it was used. He had a half pipe that he'd BMX bike on and shit like that. He entered a race and broke his collarbone, ending his thoughts about 'going pro', and off he went to college.

I recorded this to my phone a few minutes ago. It's another Pixies cover. This one is from their first album.

When those two guys I had just met were here some other friends of ours who were listening to us play asked us to play a song that they might know. The drummer was taking a cigarette break so me and the guitar playing singer guy did this song. I thought his voice sounds really great.

That wasn't the worst rendition I've ever heard. Hell, it's not even in the worst three versions I've ever heard. The timing was different and his vocals aren't terrible. He has some potential as a singer.

Every band does a cover of this song. Well, every bar band does a cover of this song - even if you're a classic rock band.

It's squarely on the list of shit I'm not interested in playing, kinda like anything from Bon Jovi - especially Wanted Dead Or Alive...

He sings way better than me

He's got some vocal potential. I'm not a great vocalist (by my standards), but I recognize good vocals.

He sounds relatively untrained, like all he's really done is take some lessons in school for chorus and maybe done a lot of singing for their own benefit. I could be wrong, of course. But, he's got potential. It's never too late to take a few lessons to learn about breathing and projection.

His voice sounds like something I'd call a 'natural voice'. Those are people who have a good voice and can use it well enough. If they took legitimate lessons and worked at it, they'd be great vocalists.

In my case, I'm not a good vocalist but I've learned from some great vocalists. Plus, I have a whole lot of practice! I do my best when I'm not singing like myself, but when I'm attempting to mimic another vocalist. I'm told I'm excellent at sounding like someone else, but I've worked with brilliant vocalists.

This week's track is an original, so you'll probably appreciate it more than some of our covers. This one took some effort and had some different recording techniques used.

Last weekend some friend of my girlfriend had some friends of hers that were musicians and they had heard about me from my girlfriend or something and they wanted to come over to my house and jam with me. They want to start a band. So what the hell. One of them is a drummer and guitar player and the other one plays guitar and sings. So we got everything hooked up and set up and I hit record and the drummer guy said

Your drummer needs some work. The other guitarist will do. You can train 'em right.

The drummer counted you in - and then played a different rhythm. Later, they sped up.

For now, it's best to just assume they've not played as much lately, or that they've not played in a band lately. That was an early session, so it should improve.
