If it is just for yourself and all you really want is for it to appear to be the classic you are going for, hell it may even be a chopped version of a classic. Couldn't for a couple hundred grand have a car that would pretty much look like it was whatever car you were after but could not get?
You're probably in the ballpark with that number, as a starting point. The kinda hours that will go into crafting the body alone are going to be expensive. That requires serious fabrication skills and those hours don't come easy. Plan on $70 to $100 per hour and per person.
Now, that's gonna take thousands of hours.
You get to drop it on a mass manufactured frame, which will save some money. You're looking at 25k or more for just that - and that's just the frame and suspension components. That's not an engine or customizing the frame. That's not even including wheels and tires.
So, yeah, I'd be expecting 200k to be a starting point. I'd be surprised if it gets done that low, but for that amount of money you could at least start negotiating with a builder.
But if the true examples are 10 million plus, it would be worth it to have one if you had the money
Sure, if you want. They make body kits that make a Fiero kinda look like a Ferrari, but anyone who knows what a real one looks like will laugh at it.
BUT...
If it makes you, the owner, happy? By all means, go for it.
