It seemed to me that everybody who had ever ridden in a Jeep was waving
Family is back.
I just wanted to share that I've been streaming some 'body cam' show where they show the police body cams.
I know...
I know...
But, dude, seriously... I root for the 'bad guy' more often than I probably should.
I watch the cop camera stuff on youtube sometimes
So, Biff got a ticket... "Obscene words or gestures."
The short version:
A campus police officer (in Farmington) almost caused her to crash by cutting her off. She slammed on the brakes and gave the cop the finger from a mostly open window.
This, of course, pissed the campus cop off - but they now have jurisdiction off-campus but in the 'general campus area' (which is bullshit).
So, they threw on the blues and stopped her.
She pointed out that she had the camera on (we drive with a camera on much of the time) and that he caused her to panic stop - all while telling him to fuck off and die in a fire. And, of course, continuing to give him the finger.
So, he wrote her a ticket. She took the ticket while on the phone with a legal aid at my lawyer's office and decided she'd wait until she's home to tell me. (A good choice. We've got lawyers for this.)
The officer tried to take the dash cam and she told him to fuck off a number of different ways.
She continued giving the cop the finger every now and then, while also insulting the police officer - calling him all sorts of names.
She had to panic stop with a child in the car.
We're talking a three car caravan that posted up, so the cop wrote her the ticket - probably without knowing who she is exactly.
It's like a $25 fine.
We will not be paying that fine. I will spend hundreds of dollars on a lawyer if need be, just so we don't pay that fine. "Duress" is an absolute defense and the cop caused the situation of duress.
She didn't tell me until they were home. She didn't think there was any reason for me to come down and cause additional problems.
Me? I think it's pretty funny. She's got a temper and she doesn't care who you are. If you piss her off, you're gonna know about it. The cop is lucky she didn't get out and slap him around.
We've got lawyers and I know people. This won't even get written up in the paper and it sure as fuck won't reach court. We'll be filing complaints with the campus and the local police departments. I've seen the dash cam footage and he definitely caused her to panic stop. He's lucky she did so without ramming the back of his cruiser.
LoL
I do not believe that it is illegal to flip a cop off or tell him to fuck off.
He is overstepping his authority
I only have a couple of minutes but I should actually be back later.
In Maine it's against the law if you do both, or meet a threshold. It's cop-specific, meaning you can give them the finger - but if you also say something like 'fuck you' it becomes obscene words and gestures.
However, my lawyer has contacted the campus police asking that the officer be brought in and suspended, pending a forensic investigation.
A call to the owners of the Bulldog (paper) who agreed to not publish anything at this time (they don't normally publish campus police activity).
My lawyer has also prepared a motion requesting the entire work history of the campus police officer since he started his job with UMF. He'll file that in the morning. He had me take the dash cam and seal it in an envelope and time stamp it on video. He'll send an aid for it in the morning when they start filing motions against the campus police department.
Don't fuck with my family. I will find a small swamp in a distant location to hide the bodies.
Seriously, don't fuck with my family. You can fuck with me. I'll giggle and take it. Fuck with my family and find out what happens.
As my lawyer says, "If you're nice, he can keep his job."
