In my area the weather forecasters always exaggerate the severity of upcoming storms and the actual storm never lives up the the hype, not even close
I use a browser extension (which I can click on and open a forecast for more information) and it's fairly accurate when you calibrate it with experience. The weatherman never gets it right for my house - never. That's 'cause I am in a bit of a microclimate and there's no reason to report on it 'cause nobody fucking lives here. They just kinda give you a vague idea of what's going to happen here and call it 'the foothills' or 'the mountains'. I'm in the mountains, though sometimes my weather is for the foothills.
But, no... No, this one is real by all accounts. I am gonna lose mains power - almost certainly. I dunno what else is gonna happen, but it'll be a miracle if I keep mains power.
Winds steady in the 20s with gusts up to 50 mph. Heavy rain followed by heavy snow. All with high winds.
I'm gonna lose power. I'll be fine. I just hope the cell connection works, 'cause satellite won't be working at that point.
I hope you do have connectivity. They had predicted 7"+ of snow here for overnight through this afternoon and we dont have an inch yet
We shall see...
I've had a bunch of people over today. They did the traditional tree decorating. I don't do an indoor tree. If you want a tree decorated, you make popcorn by the bucket, string it together with a needle and fishing, and you take that shit outside to decorate a fucking tree. At least the birds will like it and you just need to pull the string down in the spring.
My son's wife is gonna make a bunch of burritos for dinner. There's a fire going in the living room area, sitting room really. I've had a fairly steady stream of people, people coming to extend their greetings and gifts. They tend to start coming a few days early as some won't have time or won't have time to stop and eat.
Christmas day is pretty much just purely family, though some stragglers will come in - and that's fine. I'll start making gallons of spaghetti sauce tonight. I'm getting older and there's a bunch of people in and out, so they can help with the prep.
