Kitty litter. It works better than sand, doesn't freeze as easy, and absorbs moisture. Or big chunks of wood, in my case. Like 400 pounds of wood.
There is no 4WD to get going again. You have to not get stuck in the first place. If you get stuck, they're pretty light, so you can generally get going again with some effort. A bumper jack helps. You put a bag of kitty litter down, put a piece of flat wood on it, put the jack on that (so it has a stable base), and jack the truck up in the air.
Once you get the truck high enough, you just push it sideways off the jacks and it comes down out of the ruts. You can also opt to fill in below the wheels.
That, a shovel, and a come-along (pulley system) are all you really need.
I've never thought of the bumper jack method, thats good thinking. Too bad most cars dont have bumper jacks like they used to.
Looking at the pictures of that truck, reminds me, I had a good friend who drove one of those things for like 20 years, the motors in those trucks run forever. He bought it with 300,000 miles on it and out another 200,000 on it and sold it still running LoL
Those engines are legendary. They're 'bulletproof' inline 6 engines.
You can also modify the hell out of them.
In your care that truck is going to last forever!
