I let it charge all night and in the morning it got 17%. I used it for five or ten minutes while still charging and it went down to 8%. While its charging. I left it be for hours and just came back and now I've got 10%

My son taped wires from a charger right to the battery and got me 50%

I'm assuming you've tried multiple charging cables? That seems like a safe assumption for you, 'cause you're not a moron.

Yeah, I'd also try one powered by the wall vs. one powered from a laptop and I'd try a variety.

Well... Maybe? I dunno how much effort I'd really put into it. I'd have replaced it back when it first started fucking up. I have little patience for malfunctioning hardware.

Back in the day, computers were expensive. They were so expensive that you could get insurance for them.

This was back in the day, in the mid 80s and I rented an apartment off-base. My computer (an Apple IIe maybe?) wouldn't work. Something broke. I don't know what and didn't care. I was on the 3rd floor and I picked up my computer, walked out on the balcony, and threw it down on the parking lot.

The following Monday I brought it into the computer store (remember those?) and delivered the broken, dented, trashed computer.

They asked what happened and I told 'em that it fell from a great distance and that I wanted a new one.

The dude behind the counter couldn't give a shit, so he wrote it up as an accident and gave me a replacement that day.

If it was me and my phone was fucking up like that, I'd have probably tried a different cable - maybe also trying a wall wart cable instead of one powered by my computer's USB port.

If that didn't do the trick, I'd have chucked it right straight in the fucking trash or destroying it to avoid someone from using it again to gather my personal information. I might even take it out and shoot it with a shotgun, which is something you don't get to do - but I'd let you do it at my house. We won't tell anyone that you used a firearm. It'll be our secret.
