It would have to be an official meeting with some network exec of some sort

You could try writing it down ahead of time and getting it notarized to show the date you shared the rules with the lawyer.

Yeah, kind of like my dad writing lyrics and mailing them to himself.

That might help, it might not. They could tweak it just enough to be something else in the eyes of the law
