It really did not take as long to file them down as I thought it would
With a good file, it's not a hard thing...
These are the 'erasers' that I was talking about:

I've gotta have a few sets around here somewhere... If I were less lazy, I'd find and send you a set. 'Snot like I'm going to polish my own frets. I do generally have Biff do her own setups (which include polishing). It's part of her education. Understanding how to properly set up a guitar is pretty important to me. It means you understand the mechanics and the forces in effect.
I was surprised when I got the guitar to be able to play, that I did not notice the fret ends sticking out as I was sanding and finishing the neck. I ran my hands down the edges several times and never noticed, but once I got the strings on, it was biting me. And the first time I put the strings on that guitar I thought I fucked something up really majorly bad. None of the strings would ring an open note, I would just get a terrible buzz sound with no note as the strings were touching several frets, like every one of them. It turned out that the nut that cane with the kit is way too short for the way the headstock is routed to meet the neck. I went and looked in my drawer of random guitar parts and I had another nut, and it was luckily the right width, and the height was right too. Suddenly she sprang to life
LOL I am assuming you've already adjusted the action.
