Y'all might want to look into the 'innovation' category. That's why Les Paul wins. It was pretty close - but the list of inventions for Les Paul is pretty stunning.

Multitrack playing, looping, etc? Yeah, you can link those back directly to Les Paul.

Again, it's not who I prefer. If I'm reaching for an album to listen to, it's probably not going to be Les Paul. I loved the man and loved his playing, but no... You're more likely to find me reaching for Guns and Roses - and Slash is on the list.

I'm familiar w Les Paul's accomplishments. As a musician he fails. Like you he seemed to think that technicality would overcome his lack of soul. It doesn't. It won't, it can't. And that why Hendrix is better han your list. He cared. He put himself in that music. You don't, you can't. And you shouldn't be teaching anyone anything about music. Because you don't understand what soul is. You're a roadie at best.

"Soul" hasn't a damned thing to do with the criteria. It's not even a remote consideration.

It's "play guitar best" not "play guitar in a way I like the best."

That's objective.

Soul isn't.

If you want a list about soul, see Rolling Stone Magazine, I'm sure they'll help you out.

Said the man without one. No wait I don't believe that. You have one but you've no idea how to access it. School won't teach you that. I could but I don't think you're willing to learn.
