The 9 mm round is famous for its penetrating ability. It can drill a hole through more than one human torso. This has been recongized since WW2, probably earlier than that. It is not noted at all for blowing a large hole in anything. It drills a small hole, unless it is deliberately hollowed out to expand and fragment on impact.
