Most people in the US do not understand the reason for the second amendment to the US constitution. The media misleads them to believe it has something to do with self defense against criminals. Thankfully, the people who came up with it knew that it was so important it needed to be added to the highest law in the land. The people trying to disarm and control the population cannot change it and have to abide by it. In Canada we did not have a clear point in history where we fought off our oppressive European founders. We did not enshrine our ability to defend ourselves against such oppression in our highest laws. If we are ignorant enough to forget the lessons our Southern neighbors learnt our federal government can legally disarm us with nothing more than a routine, majority vote in parliament.
