A long time ago, there was a type of wood from a tree that was highly valued. One day, the Rothmans show up and ask to buy the wood from the trees, but the trees grow slowly and reproduce slowly, but they offered alot of money so the locals harvested the wood and sold it to them until they ran out. But the Rothmans already gave them all the money for way more wood than that, knowing that the locals wouldnt be able to fill the quota. in order to reimburse the Rothmans, hawaiians had to give the Rothmans one of the islands, i think the one the wood came from. I'm relaying a story that someone told me who was born and raised in hawaii. i dont have all the details remembered but thats the jist of the story of how Hawaii's takeover started. Every fucking time
