I'm legally blind without my glasse; perfect vision with. I've been pressured since I was a teen to do lasik. I didn't do it when I finally had the money in my mid 20s because I know what it's like to not be able to see and was afraid they might make it so it's not correctable. Then a few years later I started reading horror stories online about dry eyes (already have those from a thyroid condition so making that worse would be awful), halos, losing vision after a few years, having to wear glasses anyway, and a lot of suicides due to bad results.

A few years ago I was sent into the office and had to socialize with some people. A group of women (of course) decided I should either wear contacts (dry eyes, contacts are miserable for me) or get lasik. I simply said I wasn't interested and dodged the why. Then they all started talking about how great it was....then the side effects they all deal with. One lady had to put drops in her eyes every few mins. Another couldn't drive at night anymore because of the light smearing (haloes?), a third had to wear contacts because it "wore off after a bit".

I just won't take the risk. Wearing glasses is not that horrible. I'd rather wear them than lose my vision.
