I too lost a friend this way. No joke or topic was off the table. Incest, rape, child abuse, anything was fair game.. then one day somebody brought up the Jews owning slave ships...and holy shit. You would think somebody had shot his entire family including the dog. After ten years as friends we never talked again. Close friends too. Took care of each other when either one was down and out.
