Now Japan has a raccoon explosion, there are no natural predators, furthermore the propensity of the male raccoon to impregnate multiple females has led to an explosion in the population. It has also precipitated a rabies epidemic. The Japanese brought the racoons to Japan, where there were no racoons, while in captivity they were controllable, but when freed they became a problem.
