I used to have a bunch of stamps from national socialist Germany. My grandfather brought them, among other things, back as war trophies. Funny story, I had a buddy that was working on a full German officer's dress uniform that was period correct. I ended up selling him four stamps that featured panzer tanks on them, he wanted them for his period correct wallet. Dude ended up getting married in that uniform, his wife wore a white toga emblazoned with a yellow star of David. Weird guy.

For those who don't know...

The quote at the top- "Die Saar kehrt heim!" - means "The Saar returns home!"

It's in reference to a valuable industrial region of West Germany, known as Saarland, that was taken from Germany by The League of Nations and occupied by the French after WW1. Following Hitler's ascent to power, this region was returned to Germany in 1935.

That's what these stamps are about. Germany getting their coal mines back after 15 years of international theft.
