It's simple as this... How long did the monarchies of Europe, good or bad as they were, reign? How long has our precious system of "democracy" reigned genuinely, without being propped up by those who reap the suffering of those under said system? Better to be able to blame one and replace him than have to blame 50% of a nation and cull millions.
